2008 Advanced Training Workshops

LEVEL I ADVANCED TRAINING FOR CLINICIANS & EDUCATORS (August 4-6, 2008)
This 3-day Advanced Training is for mental health clinicians and educators who have some existing familiarity with the CPS model and have not attended a prior advanced training. The training provides participants with an in-depth orientation to CPS, with coverage of specific aspects of implementation in clinical and school settings, including assessment issues (lagging skills, triggers, situational analysis, prioritizing), use of Plan B, cognitive skills training, and roadblocks commonly encountered in implementation. Because participants in the Level I Advanced Training have variable levels of exposure to the CPS model, some time is devoted to reviewing and ensuring familiarity with the basic elements of the model. Training is facilitated by role-plays, videotaped clinical cases, and break-out groups for clinicians and educators. The training is conducted in a manner that provides maximum opportunities for questions, interaction, and discussion. While relevant to staff in inpatient, residential, and juvenile justice facilities, this training does not focus extensively on issues related to implementation of the CPS model in these settings.

LEVEL II ADVANCED TRAINING FOR CLINICIANS AND EDUCATORS (July 9-11, 2008)
Enrollment for the Level II Advanced Training is limited to participants who have attended a prior Level I Advanced Training. Through taped and role-played cases, this training is designed to permit maximum opportunities for first-hand experience in assessing, prioritizing, and describing lagging skills and triggers; describing and implementing Plan B; and assessing and resolving problems in implementation in education and clinical settings.

Schedule

Sessions for both Advanced Training seminars begin at 9:00 a.m. on all three days and conclude at 4:00 p.m. on the first two days and at 1:00 p.m. on the third day. Continental breakfast and refreshment breaks are provided each day. Lunch is on your own.
